Crocheted Shawl

As you know, we have had a lot of rain/ snow over the last couple of weeks which means plenty of time indoors and extra time to crochet! I cranked out this lacey looking shawl made from Lion Brand silk mohair using their South Bay Shawlette pattern in a few evenings.

This was my first time using this thread-like hairy yarn made of 70% mohair (made from angora goat hair) and 30% silk. I chose this bright citrus color called Sunbeam.

It took a couple attempts to get the hang of it and once I did I really enjoyed working with this yarn. It’s very lightweight, a 1 on the yarn weight scale but still provides some warmth. This pattern is worked with a larger crochet hook to create the loose, delicate effect.

All in all, I’m quite pleased with this shawl. I’ve had only positive experiences using the patterns available from Lion Brand and have no complaints about their yarns either.
Now I wait for some dry weather and an occasion  to wear this bad boy. It’s not very practical since I cant wear it at work and don’t need such a pretty thing to keep me warm in the house but I couldn’t resist.
